Some useful information about Venice<\/h1>\n
This small island, home to around 50,000 residents, is one of the largest tourist areas where cars\r\nare not allowed<\/span><\/pre>\n
Venice is connected to the mainland by the Littorio Bridge, now commonly called the \"POnte della Libert\u00e0\" (Freedom Bridge).\r\nIt is about 4 km long, and allows the transit of cars and trains. \r\nThose arriving by train will get off at Santa Lucia Station, while those who prefer the convenience\r\nof a car will have to look for parking in Piazzale Roma, the last place where the circulation of motor vehicles is permitted.<\/span><\/pre>\n
From these two terminals you begin to experience the city strictly on foot or with public or private\r\ntransport that floats on the water.<\/span><\/pre>\n
Compared with large Italian cities, such as Milan, Rome, Florence, Naples, etc. ours seems quite small.\r\nHowever, when we have to reach point A starting from point B, we immediately realize that the distances\r\nseem greater. Not because they are but because we always have to move on our own two feet.<\/span><\/pre>\n
Venice is divided into two areas by the famous Grand Canal, a large waterway which also allows the\r\ntransit of large public boats, called \"Vaporetti\". \r\nTo cross it there are four bridges, Calatrava, Scalzi<\/a> (takes its name from the nearby church of \r\nSanta Maria di Nazareth, better known as \"degli Scalzi\"), Rialto<\/a> and Accademia. \r\nA further way to cross this important waterway are the parada's gondola, basically gondolas slightly \r\nlarger than the standard ones, which cross from one side of the canal to the other. \r\nThere are only 5 left, the cost of which is 2.00 euros per person, 0.70 euros for residents.<\/span><\/pre>\n

In Venice the streets can be called \"calli\" if they are between two buildings, \"fondamenta\" if \r\nthere is a building on one side and a canal on the other, \"salizada\" is one of the first calli paved \r\nwith laid bricks in a herringbone pattern, \"ruga\" is a particularly important and large calle, \r\nthe \"rio\" is the \"water road\" which is navigated by boats, the \"campo\" is an open space surrounded by \r\nbuildings, while the  only open space that can boast the term \"Piazza\" is that of San Marco,\r\n\r\n<\/span><\/pre>\n
Another peculiarity of Venice is the division into six districts: Cannaregio, San Polo, Santa Croce, \r\nDorsoduro, San Marco and Castello. \r\nIf you need to find an address using Googlemaps, enter in the search: Venice, the name of the district, \r\nand the name of the street. It will help you avoid reaching streets of the same name in different\r\ndistricts.<\/span><\/pre>\n
